Measurements

 

    You MUST have someone else measure you. I would prefer it be a local seamstress but if this is not convenient then a friend/hubby/etc will do.   You can not do it yourself. Wear the undergarment you want to wear under your outfit.  Do not try to hold it in to make a smaller size. If you do your outfit will be very uncomfortable and look terrible.

 

 

Bust

Measured around the trunk at fullest part of the bust. Bra and cup size are also helpful.

Waist

For ladies Regency clothing measure around the waist just under the bust. For all other designs measure around the waist where you would normally wear the waistband of pants or skirts.

Hips at fullest point.

Measure around the hips at the fullest point.

Shoulder to shoulder.

Nape of neck to natural waist.

(Nape is the knobby bone on your neck)

Natural waist to the desired length.

Arm circumference.

The circumference of the armhole opening.

Length of arm.

(if long sleeves is desired).

Wrist circumference.

(for long sleeves)

Skirt circumference.

(please measure you hoop for civil war skirts)

Will you be wearing a corset?

(uncorseted bodices require more room)

Do you want boning in your bodice? If so where?

(not recommended if you are not wearing a corset!)

    More measurements may be needed but these are the basic I ask for when I make someone an outfit.  I cannot make a nice fitting outfit unless correct measurements are taken.

When I receive your measurement.... the next step is:

1# You must fill out, sign, and return to me the contract, with a 50% deposit.  I will then begin to work on your dress. (NOT BEFORE!)  Please allow 2-4 weeks for your order to reach you.

2# I will keep you updated on the progress of your gown. Keep in mind that your dress may be completed sooner than 2 to 4 weeks from the date the material and contract arrive at my home. When ordering expect to wait the above time frames. If I expect a delay I will let you know.

3# When your gown is close to completion, I will contact you and request the final payment. I accept  Certified Checks money orders and credit cards (credit cards accepted via PayPal only).  I will email picture to you so you can see the completed outfit before your final payment. (shipping prices are included with the dress price.  I ship all of my dresses insured.  If the item arrives damaged during shipping contact YOUR postoffice on how to proceed.
