For you ladies wondering how to do lace insertion.... It is REALLY EASY! I'll give you a
fast lesson.... First be sure to choose lace that has 2 somewhat straight edges.... (I
have done it would out.... AHHHHHH!) and at least 1 inch wide, (I have done 1/2 in and
that is a headache!) lay your design out on the dress.
Then stitch on each of the long edges of your lace all around your design.... When you have totally finished stitches on BOTH sides.... simply clip the material behind the lace.... What I mean is slit the material kinda in the middle.... Then carefully roll it into a small hem (2 times if you can to keep it from fraying...) so the material is no longer behind the lace.
Hand sew or zig zag the material to the straight sewn edges where you
sewed the lace down..... It looks GORGEOUS! Just remember to wear something under it...
(If you are doing something more than a sleeve!) That is one of the reasons I have yet to
make something for myself... It is so hot here I can't think about wearing more than 1
layer! (well I take that back. My regency dresses are 2... Hmmmmmm.....)
Anyway if I confused you in anyway please feel free ask me...... Maybe I will someday do
some on-line photos to illustrate that better.
