Colonial Women's Clothing
(Last update August 25, 2003)
These prices are for labor only. All inside seams are sewn on the machine. Any visible seams are hand sewn. No closures are attached. During the 1700's, stick-pins were widely used for closures however hooks and eyes are included but not sewn on the dress so you can choose. All items will come unhemmed.
| This is the first dress I made. I hope to make more this summer. I love
the period. :-) A sack back dress should be the next to arrive. The dresses again would
have been silk or linen. I choose a cotton fabric for mine because I could not find a
linen to suit my taste. The dress closes with hook and eyes down the front. I used ribbon
to decorate the top. I used a graded up pattern from Pattern's Of History by
Janet Arnold for the basic bodice and embellished it a bit differently. COL5 Top: $80 COL6 Skirt/Petticoat: $80 |
| The pattern for this jacket is copied from an original dress from Janet Arnold's Patterns of History. The jacket is authentic in design to the 1760's & 1770's. For the best period look a corset and underclothes should be worn. The jacket is lined so there are not raw edges. The sleeves are complete with wing cuffs popular in the 1760's. The petticoat is pleated to a waistband and comes complete with slits for easy pocket access. COL 7 Top Price: $80 Petticoat Price: $80 |
